MHA Business Summit Continues to Grow in Size and Stature
March 3, 2006 (Florham Park, NJ): Managed Health Care Associates (MHA), the nation’s largest Alternate Site GPO, held its Third Annual MHA Business Summit for Long Term Care Pharmacies and other industry participants this past week. Over 250 pharmacy attendees were joined by another 150 industry participants for this year’s summit which was held at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, NV.
The focus of this year’s two day summit was the new Medicare Part D drug program that began on January 1st, and the implications for the Long Term Care Pharmacy Industry. Speakers were present from many different parts of the industry and presentations were provided by the major Long Term Care industry lobbying groups, former senior level CMS officials, many of the nation’s largest Prescription Drug Plans, representatives from nursing home chains and several independent Long Term Care Pharmacy owners.
“The meeting just continues to grow every year” said Raymond Schwartz, MHA’s President and meeting organizer. “The national LTC pharmacy chains were represented this year for the first time and we estimate that the LTC pharmacies in attendance service close to 80% of all nursing home and assisted living beds in the United States. We also had 9 of the top 10 pharmaceutical manufacturers in the world, the three national wholesalers, regional wholesalers, and many of the nation’s largest Prescription Drug Plans in attendance. It was truly an industry meeting and we are very pleased to have created a forum where the industry can get together to discuss topics of contemporary importance to our members and the patients they serve”.
