The road to a highly differentiated and diversified healthcare service organization.
Grounded in long-term care leadership. Managed Health Care Associates, Inc. (MHA) was founded in 1989 and quickly became the leading group purchasing organization (GPO) for long-term care pharmacies, providing pharmaceutical, medical/surgical, and capital equipment contract portfolios and management. For more than a decade, that competitive advantage held and MHA built a core alternate site GPO business with a reputation for integrity, exceptional staff, and extraordinary member service.
Strategic expansion with a continued emphasis on service. With a focused vision for growth, MHA began the 2000s by further improving nearly every aspect of our member services. We reorganized and expanded our member support staff, developed a technology-driven industry data and services platform, and entered new classes of trade, including home infusion, combo, retail, clinic, physicians, mail order, state, and home medical equipment. By mid-decade, the company matched its long-term care success with leadership in the growing home infusion market. Membership in both categories doubled during this time.
First to market for managed care. With a clear understanding of industry changes with Medicare Part D, our management team created the Long-Term Care (LTC) Pharmacy Network in 2006 to assist long-term care pharmacies and prescription drug plans (PDPs) with managing LTC Medicare Part D claims. More than a third of all such claims in the US now flow through the MHA network.
A voice for integrity and legislative advocacy. With its growing influence and record of successful innovation, MHA has re-defined the scope and role of alternate site GPOs. With diversified health care service offerings and a longstanding reputation for integrity, MHA is poised to become an even more valuable organization for members, business partners, trade associations, and government entities.
A leading health care service company. With unparalleled member retention and strong relationships with its business partners, MHA has proven its value as a strong advocate for all stakeholders involved in the delivery of care in the alternate site market. With a core philosophy of reinvestment of resources back into the company, our services, and our employees, MHA has secured its place as a highly differentiated and diversified health care service organization capable of addressing emerging industry needs. MHA’s diversification continues with expanded businesses in HME and Direct to Nursing Home group purchasing.
